Terms of Service

The agreement covering use of ZeroWidth products and services.

Effective: June 2026 · Provider: ZeroWidth, LLC (Illinois, USA)

These Terms govern your access to and use of ZeroWidth's websites, products, and services — currently including Caliper (evaluations), Workbench (orchestration), Compass (knowledge mapping), Chat (assistant), and Prism (idea exploration). The set may grow or change. We'll give reasonable notice before retiring functionality you actively use.

If your organization has signed a separate master agreement with ZeroWidth, LLC, that agreement controls and these Terms apply only where it's silent.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using any part of the ZeroWidth services, you agree to become bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all the Terms, then you may not access or use ZeroWidth's services.

Please read these Terms carefully before accessing or using our services. If you are under the age of 13, you may not use the services unless your parent or guardian has provided us with their consent for you to do so. ZeroWidth's services are not directed to children younger than 13, and access is only offered to users 13 years of age or older. Any person who registers as a user or provides personal information to our services represents that they are 13 years of age or older.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with any other documents or policies referenced herein (including the Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Data Processing Addendum, Cookie Policy, and Subprocessors list), represent the entire agreement between you and ZeroWidth, LLC concerning your use of the ZeroWidth services. These Terms supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, representations, or discussions, whether oral or written, between you and ZeroWidth regarding their subject matter.

No modification to these Terms, nor any waiver of any rights, shall be effective except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly authorized representative of ZeroWidth, LLC. The waiver of any breach or default will not constitute a waiver of any other right hereunder or any subsequent breach or default.

Modifications to terms

ZeroWidth reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace any part of these Terms. It is your responsibility to check these Terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to the services following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

ZeroWidth may also offer new services or features through zerowidth.ai. Such new features and services shall be subject to the terms and conditions of these Terms.

For changes we consider material, we will notify workspace administrators by email with reasonable advance notice before the change takes effect, and post a banner on the affected legal page. What constitutes a material change is determined at ZeroWidth's reasonable discretion.

Use of the service

The ZeroWidth services are available for both personal and commercial use. Users are expected to use the services in a manner that is respectful, legal, and consistent with these Terms.

You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account and are required to maintain the security of your account credentials. Sharing account credentials — especially with malicious intent — is strictly prohibited and may result in suspension or termination. Workspace administrators may invite additional users explicitly; do not let someone else use your account in place of being invited.

You must adhere to the laws of your jurisdiction when using the services. You may not use our services for any illegal or unauthorized purpose. You agree to comply with all local, state, national, and international laws, rules, and regulations that apply to your use.

Any unauthorized use of the services, or any content or data accessed through them, is expressly prohibited and may result in termination of your access rights at ZeroWidth's sole discretion.

ZeroWidth reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature, service, or content offered at any time, with reasonable notice where practical.

Intellectual property rights

All content, features, and functionality on the ZeroWidth services — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, video clips, data compilations, and software — are the property of ZeroWidth, LLC or its licensors and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property and proprietary rights laws.

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the ZeroWidth services for your personal or internal business use. Any use of the services not expressly permitted by these Terms is a breach of these Terms and may also violate copyright, trademark, and other laws.

ZeroWidth, the ZeroWidth logo, the names of each individual product (Caliper, Workbench, Compass, Chat, Prism), their associated logos and glyph marks, and all related names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of ZeroWidth, LLC or its affiliates or licensors. You may not use such marks without the prior written permission of ZeroWidth, LLC. All other names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans referenced on or through the services are the trademarks of their respective owners.

Unless otherwise indicated, you may not reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display or perform, or prepare derivative works based upon any portion of the ZeroWidth services or any content therein without express written consent from ZeroWidth or the appropriate third-party content provider.

Customer content

You retain ownership of the content you put into the services ("Customer Content"). You grant ZeroWidth the limited rights it needs to operate the services for you: storing, processing, transmitting, displaying, and (where you direct) sending Customer Content to AI providers you've configured.

We do not use your private Customer Content to train AI models, sell it to third parties, or share it outside the chain of subprocessors needed to deliver the services.

You are responsible for the legality of the Customer Content you upload — you must have the right to use, store, and process it through our services.

AI outputs

The services expose AI features that generate text, code, and other artifacts ("AI Outputs"). You acknowledge that:

  • AI Outputs are not warranted as accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. You must review AI Outputs before relying on, distributing, or making decisions based on them.
  • AI Outputs are yours to use subject to the underlying model provider's own terms — when you've configured a provider, its terms govern that provider's outputs.
  • You may not use AI Outputs from the services to train or fine-tune competing AI models without our prior written permission.
  • You remain responsible for any consequences of how AI Outputs are used or distributed.

Content guidelines

Users of the ZeroWidth services are expected to adhere to the Acceptable Use Policy. In summary:

  • Content that promotes hate, discrimination, violence, or harm toward any individual or group is prohibited.
  • Uploading or sharing content you do not have the rights to is not allowed.
  • Spamming, phishing, and any malicious activities are strictly prohibited.
  • Content that violates any local, state, national, or international laws or regulations is not permitted.

Additionally, some features of the ZeroWidth services leverage third-party tools and APIs. By using these features, you agree to also abide by the content policies of those third-party tools. ZeroWidth is not responsible for the content policies of third-party tools; we recommend you review them. The current list lives on the Subprocessors page.

We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to content that violates these guidelines, and repeated violations may lead to suspension or termination of your account.

Text messaging

ZeroWidth operates a text-messaging number for assistant conversations (reached via connect codes) and for account and usage notifications you enable — verification codes, password-reset links, usage alerts, and scheduled summaries you configure. Use of that channel is additionally governed by our SMS Terms, which describe how each message type is opted into, message frequency, applicable rates, and your controls (HELP, STOP). Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.

Fees and subscriptions

The services have paid tiers. Where applicable:

  • Fees are quoted at sign-up or in your order form.
  • Billing is monthly or annual; charges are non-refundable except where required by law or as expressly stated in a signed order.
  • Plan changes take effect at the next billing cycle unless your order says otherwise.
  • Taxes are your responsibility unless stated otherwise.
  • Non-payment may result in suspension after reasonable written notice.

A free tier is available; we may impose reasonable rate, storage, or feature limits on it.

Privacy and data protection

ZeroWidth is committed to safeguarding the privacy and data of its users. We operate in alignment with global data-protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

For details on how we collect, use, and protect your data — and the rights you have over it — see the Privacy Policy. For customers processing personal data on behalf of others, see the Data Processing Addendum.

Termination of service

ZeroWidth reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the services at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Examples of activities that may result in termination include — but are not limited to — a breach of these Terms or any activity that ZeroWidth believes may harm its reputation or expose it to undue risk of liability.

If ZeroWidth decides to terminate your access, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through the contact information you have provided. You acknowledge that if your access to the services is suspended or terminated, you may no longer have access to data stored with the service. You may export your Customer Content for a reasonable window after termination; thereafter, content is purged on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy.

You may close your account at any time from the account settings page. We retain only what we're required to by law or what's necessary to defend or assert legal claims.

Upon termination, all licenses and other rights granted to you by these Terms will immediately cease. ZeroWidth is not obligated to refund any fees or other amounts paid by you in connection with the services on account of any termination or suspension.

Disclaimers

The ZeroWidth services — including all content, software, functions, materials, and information made available on, provided in connection with, or accessible through the services — are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permissible by law, ZeroWidth and its affiliates make no representation or warranties of any kind whatsoever for the content or the materials, information, and functions made accessible. Further, ZeroWidth and its affiliates disclaim any express or implied warranties, including without limitation non-infringement, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose. ZeroWidth and its affiliates shall not be liable for the use of the services, including without limitation the content and any errors contained therein.

ZeroWidth does not warrant that the functions contained in the services or any content, features, or services contained therein will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the servers that make them available will always be secure or free from bugs, errors, or other limitations.

ZeroWidth does not warrant or make any representations regarding the use or the results of the use of the services in terms of their correctness, accuracy, reliability, or otherwise.

You acknowledge that ZeroWidth is not responsible for any third-party tools or services that you may use while interacting with our services, and any data processed or accessed using those third-party tools or services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.

This does not exclude warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will ZeroWidth, its affiliates, directors, employees, or licensors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses — resulting from:

  1. your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the services;
  2. any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information or other data stored therein;
  3. any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the services;
  4. any bugs, viruses, trojan horses, or the like that may be transmitted to or through our services by any third party; or
  5. any errors or omissions in any content or for any loss or damage incurred as a result of the use of any content posted, emailed, transmitted, or otherwise made available through the services.

The limitations of this section apply whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other basis, even if ZeroWidth has been advised of the possibility of such damage. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

Notwithstanding any provisions in these Terms, ZeroWidth's total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the amount you have paid ZeroWidth for accessing or using its services in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify ZeroWidth, LLC against third-party claims arising from (i) your Customer Content, (ii) your use of the services in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (iii) your infringement of a third party's rights. ZeroWidth will defend you against third-party claims that the unmodified services infringe a US patent or copyright, subject to standard limitations and your reasonable cooperation in the defense.

Waiver and severability

If ZeroWidth fails to enforce any right or provision of these Terms, that failure does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Our not enforcing or insisting upon strict adherence to any provision in a particular instance does not mean we have waived our right to enforce that provision later.

In the event that any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The unenforceable provision will be modified to reflect the parties' intention, and only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable; if no modification can render it enforceable, it will be severed from these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms, the rights and remedies provided hereunder, and any and all claims and disputes related hereto or to the services — including their interpretation or the breach, termination, or validity thereof — shall be governed by, construed under, and enforced in all respects solely and exclusively in accordance with the internal substantive laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without respect to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Any and all such claims and disputes shall be brought in, and you hereby consent to them being litigated in and decided exclusively by, a court of competent jurisdiction located in the State of Illinois. The application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is hereby expressly excluded.

Where you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you the right to use your local courts, this section does not override that right.

Feedback and complaints

ZeroWidth values feedback from users of the services. We welcome you to share any feedback, comments, or suggestions you may have. While we may not be able to respond to every submission, we carefully consider all feedback provided to us.

Should you have any complaints about the services or wish to report any issues, please contact our support team. We are dedicated to addressing concerns promptly and fairly. You can reach us via contact@zerowidth.ai or the contact methods listed on zerowidth.ai.

By submitting feedback, you grant ZeroWidth, LLC an unrestricted, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, perform, modify, transmit, distribute, and create derivative works from such feedback, and you waive all rights to claim any fees or royalties related to ZeroWidth's use of such feedback.
